With Brexit looming and the UK PM Boris Johnson saying last week that we must prepare for ‚no deal‘, the pharma industry is on tenterhooks.<\/p>\n

Trade-deal details are still murky, and with new permits required for hauliers, the potential for backlogs affecting British ports is very likely. Not an ideal situation for cross-border operators, especially those that distribute refrigerated medicines, or worse, those getting drugs to patients that are in short supply.<\/p>\n

Richard Torbett, Chief Executive of The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI), summed up the mood on both sides of the English channel perfectly when he stated:<\/p>\n

\u201cNo deal is not in the interest of patients, the pharmaceutical industry, or the economies of the UK and the EU.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued by stressing something we must all hope for, saying \u201cAs long as a window of opportunity remains, negotiators must keep talking and agree to a comprehensive deal\u201d.<\/p>\n

The clock won\u2019t stop counting, let\u2019s hope that it\u2019s not too late for a radical change of pace and more clearsightedness around the negotiating table.<\/p>\n
